In 2023, CCL had ~9% (by revenue) and ~19% (passengers) share of the cruise industry's worldwide market. In 2024, the parent company (Carnival Corporation) had ~51% stake in the US$64+ billion industry. The wide blue jogging track surrounds the Sports Deck and is also located on Deck 11. We always found a few people to be casually walking or jogging briskly around, but it was never crowded. There didn't seem to be too much of a bounce, but the track is more forgiving (and safer) than running the deck. On Deck 4 is the presidential Monticello Library, adorned with a framed vintage American flag and replica of the Declaration of Independence (fitting for Freedom).
Try Your Luck at the Casino
There are more than 200 ocean-themed activities scheduled during a single cruise in Camp Ocean, including arts and crafts sessions for the whole family. A Camp Ocean playground is sectioned off outside on Deck 12, and children enjoy outdoor playtime closer to sunset when the sun is not as harsh. Carnival Freedom cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 1492 staterooms for 2984 passengers (max capacity 3581) served by 1150 crew-staff.
Carnival Freedom Staterooms
Oceanview cabins have a large picture window, twin beds (convertible to queen), living area. Some have a sofa and/or upper beds (Pullman) for 3rd/4th person. Rows of teal cushioned loungers surround both decks, but be careful before sitting down, and never walk this area barefoot.
Other Carnival Cruise Line cabins
Freedom is the first Carnival ship with Camp Ocean, which replaced Camp Carnival as children's program. Carnival Freedom is also the first ship to feature Bookville, a play space and reading room that anchors Seuss at Sea onboard experience. She's also the first ship to boast 4 full PlayList Productions shows at 30 minutes each, rotating throughout the cruise.
Interior with Picture Window (Walkway View)
Balcony staterooms were designed for maximum sea breeze and the most stunning views, so look to a balcony if you're looking to cruise aboard Carnival Freedom. Any time you're in your room, you're just steps away from your own personal outdoor oasis, featuring the sort of sea view you can also feel. Smoking in cabins/suites and on their balconies is prohibited. On Carnival Freedom, smoking allowed areas (cigarettes /incl electronic cigarettes) are 70’s Nightclub (disco /not allowed on the dance floor), Casino (designated areas), Casino Bar.
Badges can be collected over multiple cruises, and at the end of each, a ceremony takes place with giveaways for each age group. Smack in the middle of the gym, the small glass-enclosed pool/whirlpool is hard to miss; it appears straight out of "The Flintstones" with its faux-cave rock facade. Although complimentary to all passengers, we never saw it in use during our sailing. Farther aft, located within the smoky Habana Bar, is The Web, an Internet cafe. Dark, difficult to find and a bit of an afterthought, the center offers computers for use and laptops for rent.
The sauna and steam room, along with sizeable showers and a locker room, are through a set of doors behind the front desk (left side for men, right for women). The color scheme is terra cotta and neutral, but with rows of the standard blue balcony chairs, which felt odd and out of place. The spa was not part of the ship's 2014 dry dock renovations, and passengers on our sailing seemed disappointed that it had not been upgraded to match the Cloud 9 Spa on other Carnival ships. If you're not betting it all in the casino, dancing in the club, catching a show or keeping a barstool company, the Promenade Deck (Deck 5) is simply the place to see and be seen. Grab a a drink, listen to the band play at the stage near Centuries, and soak it all in while debating your next move. Carnival maintains that shorter show lengths and multiple choices for entertainment each night allow passengers the opportunity for self-selection, attending as many things as they want in one evening.
A number of other Carnival branded experiences enhance onboard life. EA Sports Bar offers action on every wall with video games, sports games, and sports memorabilia. "Hasbro, the Game Show" plays the board games everyone knows out on the stage together with members of the audience. Apart from the "commercial breaks" showcasing Hasbro advertisements, the action is infectious. Connecting rooms ("family cabins") are located on decks 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11.

Drydocking 2023 (October 6-21) was conducted at Navantia shipyard in Cadiz Spain. The Casino was expanded, and all staterooms and public areas were renovated/upgraded. Curiously, the funnel was designed and manufactured by Navantia. Freedom is the first Carnival ship with a reservations-only/specialty restaurant (Sun King Steakhouse) and the adults-only "Serenity" (resort deck area).

SportSquare is always open, so you can always have a great time. At Hasbro, The Game Show, compete against your fellow cruisers for cool prizes, all while playing some of your favorite games from childhood. During a lengthy cruise, though, you may find that you want more than just what you can get at this handful of restaurants. In that instance, you’ll need to check out the additional specialty restaurants aboard the ship.
Carnival Conquest was scheduled to embark passengers from Carnival Freedom as the ship would not be returning to Port Canaveral. Located on decks 12 and 14 (there's no Deck 13), Serenity is Carnival's 21-and-older sun deck. Steps away from the Lido, it's surprising how dialed-down the noise is upon entering, and most people maintain that atmosphere.
The gym is most busy in the mornings and quiet right before leaving port on most days in the midafternoon. The consensus from passengers is that the classes offered (yoga, boot camp and others) are mediocre. Complimentary abs and stretching classes are offered once per day but only during the 7 a.m. Even with quite a few people working out, the noise level is generally low. Overall, the facility is clean, with plenty of towels and adequate machines, but it could use more open floor space.
All grades balcony accommodations feature a private step-out balcony with sliding glass doors (table, patio chairs). Formerly Camp Carnival, Camp Ocean is stepping in as the kids club replacement with an oceanography theme. Most notably, in place of one large, open floor plan, Camp Ocean is divided into separate areas with activities appropriate for your child's age group. (Penguins is the only area with a gate, for security reasons.) Penguins includes ages 2 to 5, Stingrays are 6 to 8, and Sharks are 9 to 11. Accommodations can be made to group siblings close in age within the same area, but camp counselors say kids are happiest within their own age group.
Everything about the evening entertainment is designed so you can fit it all into one cruise or possibly even an evening. Production shows in the theater and comedy at the Punchliner Comedy Club are staggered, and mealtimes in the main dining room have early and late seatings to accommodate nighttime festivities. Theme nights, the piano bar and dance club all run until the wee hours, so those who want to cram action into every moment will find no problem doing so.
Each of the cabins has a safe (located in the closet) with approx dimensions (inches/centimeters) – width (10/25), height (9/23) and depth (8/20). It is advisable not to use a valid credit card (or driver’s license), but an old expired card (or some rewards card) instead. Life jackets are used in cases of emergency only (not at the ship pools). Lifejackets are located within passenger/crew cabins (in the closet). Carnival Freedom Suites (Captain's, Grand, Ocean) have king beds, living room (walk-in closet, desk, vanity table, chair, drawers, double sofa bed), private bathroom (WC, shower, whirlpool bathtub, double sinks).
